The Waite Park Wells site is located in the cities of Waite Park and St. Cloud, in Stearns County, Minnesota. It consists of a contaminated groundwater plume that impacted the City of Waite Parks municipal drinking water wells, and nearby properties thought to be the source of that contamination. The nearby properties are State-listed Superfund sites known as the Electric Machinery site, a 45 acre property located in the city of St. Cloud, and the Burlington Northern Car Shop site, a 202 acre property located in the city of Waite Park . The former Burlington Northern property included a railcar maintenance facility and the former Electric Machinery property included a gas turbine and electric generator manufacturing facility. Facilities at both properties contaminated soil and groundwater.
