The 13-acre Lawrence Todtz Farm Site is located near Camanche, Iowa. A
landfill on site collected municipal and industrial wastes from 1958 to 1975.
DuPont disposed of cellophane process waste in a section of the landfill now
known as the impoundment. The impoundment portion of the landfill is a National
Priorities List (NPL) Site regulated by EPA and the Iowa Department of Natural
Resources (IDNR). EPA is the lead agency. The impoundment area is believed to
be contributing tetrahydrofuran (THF), carbon disulfide, arsenic, and chromium.
Remedial activities were completed on the site in 1991. A long-term monitoring
program is underway to evaluate potential impacts of contamination on
groundwater and surface water in the area.
