The 650-acre Fort Lewis Logistics Center site is located near Tacoma, Washington, on the southeastern shore of Puget Sound. The site is part of the 86,000-acre Fort Lewis military installation. Site operations include maintaining aircraft and vehicles, repairing and refurbishing weapons and neutralizing caustic paint stripping waste and battery acids. These site activities contaminated groundwater, soil, sludge and surface water with hazardous chemicals. Remedy construction is either underway or complete at most of the site areas, or operable units (OUs). Remedy selection is currently underway for the B Range � OU6.
