Public Participation Opportunities
There are no public meetings currently scheduled as RODs have been issued for all currently planned OUs at the former base. However, this may change as OUs may be added for the Washrack Site and PFAS. Any notices will be published in the Plattsburgh Press Republican newspaper. A public meeting may be held in 2019 to discuss PFAS contamination found on and off the former base. See also the Community Advisory Group section below.
Community Advisory Group
A Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) meets annually in Plattsburgh. The RAB is composed of community stakeholders, including local officials and citizens, and is co-chaired by the Air Force BRAC Environmental Coordinator and the Clinton County Planning Board. The Remedial Project Managers from EPA, NYSDEC, and NYSDOH are also on the RAB and attend RAB meetings. Current cleanup and redevelopment activities are presented and discussed during the meetings. The RAB has been meeting since the former base closed in 1995, and originally met quarterly, as well as at additional times when requested by RAB members or members of the public to address any issues of vital importance to stakeholders.
If you are interested in joining the RAB, please contact David Farnsworth of the Air Force at 518-563-2871. Notice of the meetings, which are open to the public, is published in the Plattsburgh Press Republican newspaper.
