Announcements and Key Topics
EPA has issued an Explanation of Significant Differences (PDF), or ESD, which makes several changes to the cleanup remedy. This document outlines changes made to the original cleanup remedy to protect public health and the environment. The changes in the ESD included the addition of the following:
- Institutional Controls (ICs) to ensure the long-term protectiveness of the cleanup (ICs are administrative or legal controls to prevent potential for human exposure to contamination and/or protect the integrity of the remedy);
- 1,4-Dioxane as a contaminant of concern (COC) in groundwater; and
- Requirement to perform a future cumulative risk assessment for COCs in groundwater at Site closure.
Public Participation Opportunities
EPA regularly attends and participates in Bridgeton Township Meetings. At these meetings, EPA updates those in attendance about the past, current, and future work taking place at the site.
