This Site will be evaluated after Hurricane Florence and conditions allow for determining if any immediate actions are needed to ensure contamination does not endanger human health or the environment.
EPA hosted a public meeting on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, 6:00 p.m., at the Fellowship Baptist Church located at 11416 Albemarle Road in Mint Hill. Representatives from EPA presented the details of the preferred cleanup remedy to address the environmental impacts at the Ram Leather Care Superfund Site, and answered questions the public had regarding the remedial site activities. Please refer to the Proposed Plan fact sheet more information.
EPA encouraged the community to review and submit comments on the Proposed Plan starting May 15, 2018 through June 13, 2018. The Administrative Record for the site, which included the Remedial Investigation and Feasibility Study reports, is located at the Mint Hill Branch Library, 6840 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill, NC. There were no comments submitted via email or faxed to the EPA.
Public Participation Opportunities
EPA has conducted a range of community involvement activities to solicit community input and to make sure the public remains informed about site activities throughout the cleanup process. Outreach efforts have included public notices, fact sheets, interviews and public meetings. EPA also sent letters to nearby residents to inform them of contamination in ground water wells.
