EPA has completed the fifth five-year review of the remedial actions performed under the Superfund program for the Wasatch Chemical Co. (Lot 6) Superfund site. The purpose of the five-year review is to evaluate the implementation and performance of a remedy to determine if it is or will be protective of human health and the environment.

The review concluded that the OU1 remedy is currently protective of human health and the environment because there are no current completed exposure pathways. For the remedy to be protective over the long term, the following actions need to be taken: issue a final decision documenting the final remedy; collect all necessary data for multiple lines of evidence for site-related vapor intrusion and determine if control measures are needed; and finalize the risk assessment for the identified area of soil contamination and determine if remedial actions or controls are needed to address soil contamination.
