About the Superfund Redevelopment Initiative
This nationally coordinated effort provides EPA and its partners with a process to return Superfund sites to productive use. Learn more at Superfund Redevelopment Initiative.
Redevelopment at the Site
The SMS Instruments, Inc. Superfund site is located in a light industrial area in Deer Park, New York. Following EPA’s deletion of the site from the NPL in September 2010, light commercial/industrial uses resumed. Currently, Datacomm Cables Inc., a retail merchant of electronic cables and accessories, operates on site.
Economic Activity at the Site
As of December 2019, EPA had data on 3 on-site businesses. These businesses employed 18 people and generated an estimated $11,376,000 in annual sales revenue. View additional information about redevelopment economics at Superfund sites.
