About the Superfund Redevelopment Initiative
This nationally coordinated effort provides EPA and its partners with a process to return Superfund sites to productive use. Learn more at Superfund Redevelopment Initiative.
Redevelopment at the Site
EPA deleted the site from the NPL in 2005. The successful cleanup of the site allowed for beneficial reuse of the property, providing valuable public resources and services to the local community. The Town of Southampton built a recreation center, which also houses recreation-related businesses, within the landfill property. Another portion of the site is a community recycling center.
Economic Activity at the Site
As of December 2019, EPA had data on 6 on-site businesses. These businesses employed 53 people and generated an estimated $2,334,000 in annual sales revenue. View additional information about redevelopment economics at Superfund sites.
