About the Superfund Redevelopment Initiative
This nationally coordinated effort provides EPA and its partners with a process to return Superfund sites to productive use. Learn more at Superfund Redevelopment Initiative.
Redevelopment at the Site
Redevelopment and reuse planning for the Site is ongoing. The expedited Site cleaup contains cleanup goals that take into account reasonably anticipated future resue opportunities.
Economic Activity at the Site
As of December 2017, EPA did not have economic data related to on-site businesses, or economic data were not applicable due to site use. View information about redevelopment economics at Superfund sites.
Renewable Energy at the Site
In response to the amount of community interest in redeveloping the site, EPA and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory conducted a study on the potential for solar power generation at the site in 2012. The solar feasibility study evaluated technical approaches and associated economic opportunities and challenges.
Solar power will be one of the redevelopment reuse options that will be considered after the site has been cleaned up. EPA, MDEQ, and the Multistate Trust will ensure the reuse/redevelopment options that are considered are consistent with cleanup requirements.
