The 12-acre Pinette's Salvage Yard site is an auto repair and salvage facility on Gardner Creek Road in Washburn, Maine. Electrical transformers brought on site ruptured during transit, spilling hazardous liquids on the ground. EPA’s cleanup work included removal of contaminated soil and on-site ground water treatment. Cleanup finished in 2002 and EPA took the site off the Superfund program’s National Priorities List (NPL).
