Superfund Site: CHEMICAL CONTROL, ELIZABETH, NJ

Superfund Site Profile

The Chemical Control Corporation (CCC) site is a 2-acre area next to the Elizabeth River in New Jersey. From 1970 to 1978, a hazardous waste storage, treatment and disposal facility operated on site. Discharge and waste storage violations led to contamination of river sediments and on-site soils. Cleanup activities have been completed. Long-term monitoring is ongoing. EPA is considering removing the site from the Superfund program’s National Priorities List.
