The Vineland Chemical Co., Inc. site is located in Vineland, New Jersey. Arsenic-based herbicides were manufactured at a facility located at the 26-acre area from 1949 to 1994. The company stored byproduct arsenic salts in open piles, lagoons and chicken coops. As a result, surface and subsurface soils, groundwater and the nearby Blackwater Branch, Maurice River and Union Lake have been contaminated by arsenic from the site. After immediate actions to protect human health and the environment, the site’s long-term cleanup is ongoing
