EPA Superfund Program: LANDFILL & DEVELOPMENT CO., MOUNT HOLLY, NJ

Superfund Site Profile

The Landfill & Development Co. site is located in Burlington County, New Jersey. The 200-acre landfill was used to dispose of demolition debris, municipal garbage, industrial and commercial solid waste, and treated sewage sludge until 1986. Landfill operations contaminated soil and groundwater with hazardous chemicals. Following initial action to protect human health and the environment, EPA put the site’s long-term remedy in place. Long-term groundwater extraction and monitoring is ongoing. Under current conditions at the site, potential or actual human exposures are under control.
