Superfund Site: D'IMPERIO PROPERTY, HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ

Superfund Site Profile

The D'Imperio Property site is located in a triangle formed by the intersections of U.S. Route 322 (Black Horse Pike), U.S. Route 40 and Cologne Road in Hamilton Township, New Jersey. The 15-acre site includes a former disposal area where wastes were illegally disposed of. Groundwater is contaminated with volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which are potentially harmful contaminants that easily evaporate in the air. By securing the site with a fence, removing contaminated soil and drums, and putting in groundwater treatment and soil vapor extraction systems, EPA believes the potential for exposure to contaminated materials and groundwater at the site has been significantly reduced.

TOPICS IN FOCUS

The draft construction report for the Lower Cohansey Detached Plume (LCDP) activities conducted in 2015 was submitted in November 2016 and requires EPA approval. Following the completion of the LCDP activities, the PRPs will submit the updated Long Term Groundwater Monitoring Report and Classifiction Exemption Area for EPA review and approval in 2017.
