Superfund Site Profile
The Sarney Farm site is located in Amenia, New York. A former owner was permitted to use a 5-acre section of the site property as a landfill for municipal wastes. However, industrial and municipal wastes were disposed of at locations across the site from 1965 to 1969. The site became a site on the National Priorities List in 1986 and was investigated by EPA. Buried drums were excavated and the contaminated soils were cleaned. Following these immediate actions to protect human health and the environment, the site’s long-term remedy was put in place.
