The Middlesex Sampling Plant (MSP) site is located in Middlesex, New Jersey.
The 9.6-acre area was part of the nation’s early atomic energy program established by the Manhattan Engineer District in 1943. The site is surrounded by residential and industrial areas as well as fields and marshes and has a fence surrounding its property. Activities at the site continued under the Atomic Energy Commission until 1967. The site was primarily used to sample, store, test and transfer ores containing uranium, thorium, and beryllium.
