BALLY GROUND WATER CONTAMINATION
Superfund Site Profile
The Bally Groundwater Contamination site consists of an area of groundwater contamination beneath and around the Bally Engineered Structures (BES) plant in the Borough of Bally, Pennsylvania. The source of the contamination is the former BES facility – a company that made urethane-insulated panels for refrigeration. The plant is located about 1,000 feet from Bally’s municipal water supply well No. 3. From at least 1955 to 1965, the company and its predecessor used impoundments on the property to dispose of spent solvents. By 1975, the lagoons were filled and buildings and parking areas were constructed on top of the former lagoons.
