EPA Superfund Program: MW MANUFACTURING, VALLEY TOWNSHIP, PA

Superfund Site Profile

The 15-acre MW Manufacturing site is located in Valley Township in Montour County, Pennsylvania. From 1966 to 1972, MW Manufacturing operated a metal wire reclamation facility, which used mechanical and chemical processes to recover secondary copper from scrap wire. Spent solvent waste disposal practices contaminated soil and groundwater with hazardous chemicals and left waste piles of finely divided scrap wire called “fluff” on site. Following cleanup, operation and maintenance activities are ongoing.
