EPA Superfund Program: REESER'S LANDFILL, UPPER MACUNGIE TWP, PA

Superfund Site Profile

The Reeser’s Landfill site is located in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. Reeser's Landfill was an unpermitted dump site for municipal and commercial wastes that operated in a former mine pit before 1970 and ceased operating in 1980. In 1983, EPA found elevated levels of lead and cadmium in one groundwater well near the site, and low levels of mercury contamination on the landfill itself. Subsequent investigations did not find significant contamination or risks to human health or the environment. EPA took the site off the Superfund program’s National Priorities List (NPL) in May 1990.
