HONEYBROOK TOWNSHIP, PA
Superfund Site Profile
The approximate 7-acre Walsh Landfill Site, also known as the Welsh Road Landfill, is located in Honey Brook Township, Pennsylvania. The Site reportedly received mixed municipal and industrial wastes for disposal between 1963 and 1976, but disposal operations may have continued through the 1980s. Several attempts were made by the owner to obtain state and township approval for a landfill in the 1970s. Due to citizen complaints and continued non-compliance with regulations, the operation was never permitted. Waste disposal activities contaminated soil, sediment, and groundwater. The Site was added to the Superfund program's National Priorities List (NPL) in September 1984.
