Superfund Site Profile

The 113-acre Curtis Bay Coast Guard Yard site is located six miles southeast of downtown Baltimore, Maryland. Established in 1899, this active facility provides support for the U.S. Coast Guard, including the design, construction and repair of ships and boats. Previous site activities included operation of an on-site incinerator, manufacturing operations, and ship repair and maintenance. These activities contaminated soil and groundwater with hazardous chemicals. Following cleanup, operation and maintenance activities are ongoing.
