EPA Superfund Program: ALABAMA PLATING COMPANY, INC., VINCENT, AL

Superfund Site Profile

The 6-acre Alabama Plating Co. Inc. site is located in Vincent, Shelby County, Alabama. It includes the area where electroplating took place from 1956 to 1986. EPA finalized the site on the Superfund program’s National Priorities List (NPL) in 2012 because of contaminated ground water resulting from facility operations. EPA and the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) have investigated site conditions and taken steps to clean up the site in order to protect people and the environment from contamination. Site contamination does not currently threaten people living and working near the site. A water line connects residences and businesses to the public water supply. By conducting additional investigations to determine next steps for the site’s cleanup, EPA and ADEM continue to protect people and the environment from site contamination.
