EPA Superfund Program: ALTERNATE ENERGY RESOURCES INC, AUGUSTA, GA

Superfund Site Profile

The 2.6-acre Alternate Energy Resources Inc. site is located in Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia. It includes the area where a commercial hazardous waste storage and treatment facility operated from 1975 to 2000. EPA placed the site on the Superfund program’s National Priorities List (NPL) in 2006 because of contaminated soil and groundwater resulting from facility operations. EPA, the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (Georgia EPD) and the Alternate Energy Resources (AER) PRP Group, the site’s potentially responsible parties (PRPs), have investigated site conditions and taken steps to clean up the site in order to protect people and the environment from contamination. Site contamination does not currently threaten people living and working near the site. By conducting cleanup activities, EPA, Georgia EPD and the site’s PRPs continue to protect people and the environment from contamination.
