Superfund Site Profile

If you need documents that are not yet 508 compliant, please contact the National 508 Coordinator, Dorothy Semazzi, at Semazzi.Dorothy@epa.gov.

SITE BACKGROUND

The 4.7-acre site is located in northeastern Madison, Madison County, Florida. The site includes a former manufacturing plant, an office trailer, a small storage shed and a parking area. Residential neighborhoods surround the site. The neighborhoods include low-income and minority residents. An unnamed natural pond is located next to the site. Several other ponds, both natural and man-made, are located near the site.

From 1970 until 1991, ITT Thompson Industries operated an automobile stamping facility at the site. Operations produced wheel ornamentation for cars, including wheel covers and wire wheel products. EPA did not list the site on the NPL but considers it an NPL-caliber site and is addressing it through the Superfund Alternative Approach. Currently, ITT Thompson Industries continues to lease the site. However, the site is not in use. The site can support commercial and industrial land uses.
