The 19.6-acre Muskegon Chemical Company (MCC) site is located in Whitehall, Michigan. The Muskegon Chemical Company began making specialty chemicals at the Whitehall facility in 1975. A leak in the drainage system inside the facility contaminated soil and groundwater with hazardous chemicals. The leak was later repaired. Contamination associated with the site has migrated a half-mile southwest of the facility to Mill Pond Creek. Following cleanup, operation and maintenance activities are ongoing.
