Superfund Site Profile

SITE BACKGROUND

The 10-acre Hedblum Industries site is located in AuSable Township in Michigan. From 1958 to 1985, several industrial firms made automobile parts on the site. Waste disposal operations contaminated soil and groundwater with hazardous chemicals. In 1983, EPA placed the site on the Superfund program’s National Priorities List (NPL). Cleanup initially included soil excavation and installation of a groundwater extraction and treatment system.
