EPA Superfund Program: WINDOM DUMP, WINDOM, MN

Superfund Site Profile

The 11-acre Windom Dump site is located in Windom, Minnesota. The municipal dump opened in the 1930s. Between 1957 and 1974, the dump accepted municipal and industrial wastes, including paint sludges, solvents and cleaners. Waste disposal operations contaminated groundwater with hazardous chemicals. Following cleanup, EPA took the site off the Superfund program’s National Priorities List (NPL) in 2000. Operation and maintenance activities are ongoing.
