Background

The Riverfront Site is contaminated with industrial chemicals, primarily chlorinated volatile organics. In 1986, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) began testing public supply wells in the state for Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and detected the chlorinated solvent Perchloroethene (PCE) in New Haven city wells Wl and W2. These wells were more than 800 feet deep.
