Background

The Parkview Well Site (Northern and Southern Plumes) was listed on the National Priorities List (NPL) in 2006 due to groundwater contamination which had impacted local private wells and municipal drinking water wells for the city of Grand Island, Nebraska.  The groundwater contaminants of concern were identified to be the following volatile organic compounds: 1,1,1‑tricholoroethane, 1,1-dichloroethane, 1,1-dichloroethene, 1,4-dioxane, and tetrachloroethene.  The source of the contamination was determined to be from activities at an industrial facility located at 3304 South Engleman Road. Cleanup, operation and maintenance activities, and monitoring are ongoing.
