Superfund Site Profile

The 10-acre Hassayampa Landfill site was used for disposal of hazardous wastes for an 18-month period between 1979 and 1980, including up to 3.28 million gallons of liquids and 4.150 tons of solids in unlined pits. The landfill pits were subsequently covered with native soil and restored to grade. Disposal activities ceased in 1997. Following construction of the site’s long-term remedy, groundwater and soil treatment and monitoring are ongoing.
