Superfund Site Profile

The 20-acre United Heckathorn Co. site is located in Richmond Harbor, California. From 1947 to 1966, several companies used the area to formulate, package and ship pesticides. These activities contaminated groundwater, soils and sediments with dichlorodiphenyl trichloroethane (DDT) and dieldrin. Following immediate actions to protect human health and the environment, the site’s long-term cleanup is ongoing.
