EPA Superfund Program: SHARPE ARMY DEPOT, LATHROP, CA

Superfund Site Profile

The 724-acre Sharpe Army Depot site is a Defense Logistics Agency facility near Lathrop, California. Between 1941 and 1975, maintenance of aircraft, vehicles, industrial equipment and medical equipment produced a variety of chemical wastes. The Army later disposed of the chemicals on site, contaminating groundwater and soil with volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Construction of the site’s long-term remedy has finished. Operation and maintenance activities and monitoring are ongoing.
